Metascale Introduces Hadoop Appliance

MetascaleMetaScale, the technology solutions provider subsidiary of Sears Holdings (NASDAQ: SHLD), recently introduced a Hadoop appliance product line that incorporates advanced technology with the expertise of specialists who have successfully delivered Hadoop implementations.

The complete line of MetaScale-branded appliances are specifically designed to help companies rapidly implement Hadoop initiatives in their organizations, and slashing the time needed to gain the Big Data insights they want in a cost-effective manner. The appliances are also built in a vendor-neutral manner, with companies able to choose the platform or Hadoop distribution that makes the most sense for them, such as Hortonworks, Cloudera, MapR, or others.

Hadoop has evolved to the point where it is no longer a theoretical initiative. It is capable of delivering significant results, helping firms efficiently analyze incredible amounts of large data both structured and unstructured,” said Ankur Gupta, general manager at MetaScale. “Our appliances are designed to help companies rapidly configure, install and gain results from their Hadoop efforts. Unlike other appliances, we do not force our clients to choose from one implementation or distribution; we consult with them to find the solution that best meets their needs.”

A standard and high-level configuration of MetaScale appliance is listed below. These configurations can be further customized to meet the individual needs of MetaScale’s customers. MetaScale has also designed its Hadoop appliances to fit the budgets of virtually any firm with Big Data requirements, with prices starting at $10,000 per month, including a full range of technical support.
