insideBIGDATA: David, please tell me what LC Technology International does.

David Zimmerman

David Zimmerman: LC Technology International, Inc. is a global leader in data recovery, file system utilities and data security technology. Clients include original equipment manufacturers, local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, corporate security specialists and IT consultants, among others. Available worldwide and published in more than 24 different languages, LC Technology products are available direct or through several major manufacturers of flash memory products. Founded in 1997, LC Technology is based in Clearwater, Florida.

insideBIGDATA: What are your customers presently? In the future, whom might they be?

David Zimmerman: We have broad range of customers that use our products and services, basically anybody who stores data, uses flash memory devices like USB drives, memory cards, hard drives and computers is a potential customer for us. We make software products for both the Windows and OSX platforms and they are available in 24 different languages, and working with and making products for global companies like SanDisk has brought our products to almost every part of the world giving us a wide geographical range.

insideBIGDATA: In a world where data is stored in enormous quantities, how do you see your solutions changing to meet those needs?

David Zimmerman: Our solutions have changed through the years, we have been making software products since the late 90’s and have seen operating system changes, file system changes along with the amount of data being generated and stored. With new storage devices,  operating system changes and some of the newer file systems like ReFS. We are constantly improving our products and optimizing them for the new hardware and OS related enhancements.

insideBIGDATA: What are your thoughts on data storage in the cloud?

David Zimmerman: Cloud backups are good for temporary storage, as a secondary storage repository or to put files there for convenience/accessibility for those who spend a lot of time out on the road and need access to certain files while out in the field. There are Pro’s and Con’s to using the cloud, a lot of them are free to a certain extent or low-cost solutions, they can be accessed from anywhere and they may be your safety net in the event that you do lose data on another device, but most providers are not responsible if you lose data, there can be bandwidth issues especially if you work with large files and of course security can be an issue as no data is 100% safe once it is out of your physical control.

insideBIGDATA: What’s down the road for your company? What can we expect in 2 – 3 years?

David Zimmerman:  Growth and expansion of our physical data recovery services into Asia and Europe as well as products that continue to lead the market in the data recovery space. As the amount of data stored increases and the number of people using personal storage devices increases we will see a tremendous increase in our customer base.
