Revolution Analytics Expands Open Source R Technical Support with AdviseR

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

RevolutionRevolution Analytics, a commercial provider of open source R software, today announced AdviseR™, a technical support program for open source R users. Revolution Analytics is the first company to provide comprehensive, commercial support for the fastest growing community in advanced analytics. For $795 a year, per user, AdviseR provides access to additional tools aimed at mastering R in addition to individualized expert assistance.

Between the high levels of usage amongst today’s data scientists and the popularity of R within the academic space, adoption of open source R within the enterprise is exploding,” said Stephen O’Grady, principal analyst at RedMonk. “But enterprises require robust, commercial support for the software they deploy, and this is what Revolution Analytics is built to provide.”

Advanced analytics is fueling the growth of open source R across information-intensive industries such as finance, pharmaceuticals, media and marketing, which rely on analytics for data-driven business decisions. While the open source R community is itself a forum for users to ask questions and receive advice from community members, no formal, individualized support program has been established for the community. The AdviseR service offered by Revolution Analytics fills this gap, providing a foundation for successful open source R implementation and assistance with ongoing projects. An annual AdviseR subscription provides a user with live technical support for R, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. in the subscriber’s local time zone and includes assistance with various technical issues, including:

  • Installing and running R
  • Importing, exporting and manipulating data
  • Identifying and troubleshooting performance issues
  • Clarifying functions, features and documentation of R
  • Identifying and verifying the causes of suspected errors

AdviseR also helps extend R knowledge by offering unlimited forum posting, unlimited access to Revolution Analytics’ R knowledgebase, access to monthly training webinars from experts in the R community, and help connecting R to third-party applications. Revolution R Enterprise (RRE), the Big Data big analytics platform offered by Revolution Analytics, will continue to provide enterprise users with open source R technical support in addition to other RRE features.

Revolution Analytics has been supporting the open source community for the past six years and AdviseR builds on that commitment to support a stronger R community,” said Dave Rich, CEO at Revolution Analytics. “In addition to AdviseR, we’ve promoted David Smith to chief community officer to ensure Revolution Analytics remains an active leader, contributor and supporter to the open source R community.”
