TexataThe 2014 Texata Big Data Analytics World Championships in October 2014 is a competition for students and professionals to develop and test their Big Data Analytics skills against their friends, colleagues and top data experts from around the world.

Participants are free to use any technology vendors, products or additive analytical products. Participation requires solid familiarity with the basic data analytical techniques involved with managing the large and complex volumes of data with heterogeneity, diversity and developing meaningful analytical insights.

Schedule

The 2014 Big Data World Championships will comprise:

  • Round 1 – online case study style questions – Auguest 23, 2014
  • Round 2 – online case study style questions – September 6, 2014
  • Live World Championship Finals Event held in Dallas, Texas, USA – October 4-5, 2014

How It Works

Each competitor will individually answer a variety of multiple choice questions and Data-related case studies – including Practical, Theory and Data Techniques and Understanding. Specific questions related to Big Data and Business Analytics sets will focus on exploring business approaches, decision-making and accurate predictions for driving discovery and decision-making.

Round 1 will be conducted entirely online over 3 hours. Participants compete individually. The World Championship is technology agnostic – therefore participants are free to use any technology vendors and products. Participants require familiarity with the basic data analytical techniques involved with managing the large and complex volumes of data with heterogeneity, diversity and developing meaningful analytical insights. Case studies will derive from the fields of Health, Energy, Government, Insurance, Earth Science and more. Round 2 will be structured very similar to Round 1, with greater technical, conceptual and commercial difficulty.

Live World Finals Event – Dallas, Texas (USA)

Top 16 World Finalists will be flown to the Live Finals Event in Dallas, Texas to compete for the title of Big Data World Champion and Cash Prize of US$25,000 dollars. Five world-leading judging authorities will be announced in the coming months.
