mongodb_logoMongoDB, today announced the creation of a developer-friendly experience that enhances modern application development on Google Cloud Platform’s Compute Engine. Together, MongoDB and Google Compute Engine offers the high performance, reliability and cost-effective scale designed for how today’s applications are built and deployed.

New resources that help customers easily deploy MongoDB on Google Compute Engine include the following:

This is the first of many ongoing, collaborative efforts to bring the best MongoDB experience to Google Compute Engine,” said Vijay Vijayasankar, VP of Global Channels and Business Development at MongoDB. “Working with Google represents another critical step in our mission to make it easy for customers to deploy MongoDB on any cloud they choose.”

With no upfront licensing or maintenance fees, MongoDB on Google Compute Engine offers a cost effective solution compared with traditional database options running on premise. Server Density, a real-time server and website monitoring solution, has significantly reduced operational overhead and improved performance by running MongoDB on Google Compute Engine.

We can very quickly spin up new MongoDB shards to scale writes and resyncing replica nodes is trivial due to the exceptional networking performance across Google Compute Engine zones,” said David Mytton, CEO, Server Density. “Using snapshots has simplified our backup and disaster recovery strategy and gives us brand new functionality, like being able to migrate workloads around the world. On top of that, we’ve improved performance from an average of 10,000 ops per second with our old, bare metal, SSD-based environment, to an average of 480,000 ops per second on Google’s persistent disks, all with no additional effort.”
