The 2014 edition of the Tableau Software’s annual conference (TC14) is taking place in Seattle this week, from September 8-12 and insideBIGDATA will be on hand for all the tech festivities. The big event is at the Washington State Convention Center with a sold-out crowd of over 5,500 customers and partners from around the world. In its seventh year, TC14 brings together people from organizations of all sizes and industries. Attendees will discover how to leverage their investment in analytics, hear what’s next in business intelligence and network with like-minded individuals.

TC14 will feature four days of teaching and learning, including 270 breakout sessions, 50 hands-on training sessions, four major keynotes and the popular “Tableau Doctor” appointments with Tableau experts. More than 100 Tableau customers will share their success stories and business intelligence wins. People can follow the conference proceedings by following the Twitter hashtag #data14.

Tableau’s CEO Christian Chabot and CDO and Co-Founder Chris Stotle will be keynoting, alongside best-selling author, Michael Lewis and others listed here. The speaker I’m looking forward to most is Neil deGrasse Tyson, noted astrophysicist and host of the hit series “Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey.” Additionally, hot customer names like Facebook, Cisco, Netflix, Verizon, VMWare, Seattle Children’s Hospital and more will be in attendance to talk about how their respective companies are putting the power of business analytics into the hands of their business users to solve more complex problems than ever.

The conference app is now available—you can download it from iTunes or the Google Play store. Search for “Data14” or “Tableau Conference,” install, and take some time to explore all the cool event happenings. I plan to Tweet about all the late breaking news during the conference, and afterward I’ll post a detailed Field Report about all the exciting developments, announcements, and industry scuttlebutt I came across at the show.

The conference will offer sessions for every skill level and feature speakers from the worlds of academia, journalism and Tableau’s research team.

This is the event of the year for our customers, partners and employees,” said Elissa Fink, Chief Marketing Officer at Tableau Software. “They come together and create an environment that is electric. This year’s event sold out six weeks early and will be our biggest one yet.”

I’m really looking forward to spending some quality time in the great Pacific Northwest, and what better way than at the Tableau Conference!
