Delivering the future of analytics, Pentaho Corporation announced it has opened its data refinery – which transforms raw data into actionable information – to Amazon Redshift and Cloudera Impala™. By harnessing the best of cloud and big data ecosystems, Pentaho’s latest version, Pentaho Business Analytics 5.3, offers a pragmatic approach to big data analytics at scale.

Enterprise organizations can enjoy the benefits of two major IT initiatives: big data analytics and cloud computing. Pentaho 5.3 helps customers realize the insights and competitive advantages gained from big data, while providing a cloud delivery model that is cost-effective, enhances business agility, and increases productivity.

Pentaho 5.3: Enterprise Cloud Analytics with Amazon Redshift

We are pleased that customers can combine Amazon Redshift and Pentaho to power fresh business insights with the performance and reliability they have come to depend on in the cloud,” said Brian Matsubara, Head of Global Technology Alliances, Amazon Web Services, Inc.  “Pentaho’s version 5.3 automates the preparation and modelling of data for Amazon Redshift, helping customers blend and refine large volumes of data for high speed query and analysis.”

At NASDAQ, we’re redefining industry standards for large scale enterprise analytics. We’ve developed a cloud-based big data analytics platform, analyzing billions of stock market transactions everyday using Hadoop, Pentaho and Amazon Redshift,” said Michael Weiss, Senior Developer, NASDAQ. “Our legacy systems were extremely slow, and lacked required data governance for data at scale. With today’s big data solution in the cloud, we’re not only able to scale beyond previous capabilities, but do it in a much more cost-effective way with flexible deployment options and higher data confidence.”

Pentaho 5.3: Big Data Analytics with Cloudera Impala

As enterprise IT architectures are becoming more open and flexible to accommodate new tools, data types and data volumes, Cloudera Impala has seen rapid adoption among organizations of all sizes, including over one million open source downloads and hundreds of Cloudera customers,” said Tim Stevens, VP business and corporate development, Cloudera. “Impala enables highly interactive operational business intelligence and data discovery solutions for analysts and business users alike with the fastest time to insight. With an Impala based Pentaho data refinery, our customers can realize the benefits of Hadoop while meeting enterprise requirements.”

Organizations are increasingly looking to cloud computing as part of the infrastructure to support their big data analytics projects. Providing services that run on Amazon Web Services and Cloudera provides our customers the flexibility and efficiencies for accessing data, as well as the ability to blend trusted and timely data to power enterprise analytics at scale,” said Christopher Dziekan, Chief Product Officer, Pentaho. “With Pentaho 5.3, we address the three persistent big data challenges in the enterprise: the need for strong data governance, diverse data blending, and delivery of analytics embedded at the point of impact.”
