SGI_logo_platinum_smlToday SGI announced their SGI UV for SAP HANA appliance has been certified to run the SAP HANA platform on up to 16 sockets in controlled availability environments. With this extension of the SGI UV appliance, the SGI solution can provide up to 12 terabytes (TB) of in-memory computing capacity in a single node. SAP-certified at 4- and 8-sockets just last fall, the highly scalable and configurable architecture of the SGI appliance helps enable enterprises running SAP HANA to achieve real-time business at ever-greater scale and lower total cost of ownership.

SGI UV for SAP HANA is a purpose-built, in-memory computing platform for large or growing environments running on SAP HANA. Utilizing a differentiated, single-node architecture, the SGI appliance delivers outstanding performance to gain the business breakthroughs of SAP Business Suite 4 SAP HANA (SAP S/4HANA) at extreme scale. The simplicity of the single-node system also helps enterprises eliminate additional overhead associated with clustered systems management, helps to ensure high availability, and allows enterprises to expand seamlessly with near-linear performance.

Enterprises reimagining business with SAP S/4HANA can benefit from solutions delivering massive scale, greater simplicity and high availability,” said Jorge Titinger, president and CEO, SGI. “Our rapid achievement of the 12- and 16-socket single-node controlled availability milestone reflects our commitment to serve the needs of today’s largest enterprises to achieve real-time insight with SAP HANA.”

SGI UV for SAP HANA features SGI UV 300H, the specialized offering in the SGI UV server line that couples seventh-generation SGI in-memory computing technology, Intel® Xeon® processor E7-8890 v2 with 15-core processors, and ultrafast SGI NUMAlink 7 interconnects. The appliance is SAP-certified with general availability from 4- to 8-sockets with up 6TB of shared memory, and with controlled availability for 12- and 16-sockets with up to 12TB of shared memory.

Intel and SGI are pushing the limits of high-performance computing in the enterprise with the SGI UV for SAP HANA,” said Raj Hazra, vice president, Data Center Group and general manager, Enterprise and HPC Platform Group, Intel. “The leading performance and large in-memory capacity of the Intel Xeon processors E7 v2 family will allow customers to unlock the full benefits of SGI’s highly scalable single-node architecture to maximize performance gains and accelerate time to insight.”
