Taste_Analytics_logoAdvanced data analytics has traditionally been costly, time-intensive, complicated, and often reserved for the large enterprise, but Taste Analytics is looking to change that with the launch of the Taste Analytics Signals platform, making data discovery simple and approachable for everyone – no data scientist required.

Where other products are too cumbersome, require complex IT integration and are difficult to use, Signals delivers actionable insights in seconds by automatically processing large volumes of unstructured and structured textual data from almost any source – emails, chat sessions, text files, e.g. Word and Evernote, blog posts, app reviews, social media and more.

Prior to launching the company, we spent over two years interviewing executives from various corporations of all sizes and found there was really a lot of excitement around the potential of text mining. The message we heard over and over again was today’s tools were too costly or too complex to provide value and are often cost prohibitive for smaller organization,” said Derek Wang, Taste Analytics founder and CEO. “We designed Signals, to make advanced data analytics more accessible and approachable, while allowing our customers to discover actionable insights in minutes and hours, rather than weeks or months, and at a fraction of the cost.”

Ideal for marketers, business analysts, customer care teams, or anyone tasked with managing large volumes of data, the Signals dashboard offers drag-and-drop data importing and drill-down options – such as temporal trends, category overview, or buzzword and geospatial analysis – to help business teams quickly visualize key patterns and behaviors, so they can better anticipate and refine strategies and best practices in real-time.

In our initial deployments we were able to showcase how impactful our platform can be,” added Wang. “For example, a large home goods company analyzed their customer feedback emails and discovered their retail locations in Southern California were not granting National Guard members the 10% discount they advertised for members of the military, causing frustration with their customers. We were able to bring this to their attention, all the stores in the region were notified to reiterate the company policy, training programs were put in place to educate the employees and they are winning back the customers’ trust.”

The Taste Analytics Signals platform incorporates predictive modeling, machine learning, and robust statistical Natural Language Processing (NLP) algorithms to create visualizations of behavior communities, trends, patterns and outlying themes. Key aspects of the Taste Analytics Signals platform include:

  • No Complex Integration – Its cloud-based platform can be accessed from anywhere, with no complex IT integration or strain on IT resources, letting users get up and running quickly.
  • Intuitive Dashboard, Advanced Functionality – No extensive training or complex taxonomies required to drill down deeper into the data to mine insights. Although, advanced users can leverage taxonomies to enhance insights if desired.
  • Flexible Pricing Models, No Running Meter – Pay-as-you- go projects and monthly subscriptions available. Plans are based on number of data sources, rather than volume, letting teams process unlimited amounts of data from each source at a fixed cost.

Taste Analytics has been operating the platform in limited commercial deployments in several innovative companies and government agencies for the last year, helping them to effectively formulate hypothesis and arrive at actionable insights from millions of unstructured data points.
