SAP Brings Data Discovery to Small and Medium-Sized Businesses

SAP_logoIn a recent survey, SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) found businesses of all sizes are struggling to unlock the hidden value of their data and lack the tools to effectively use company data for decision-making. SAP today announced SAP Lumira®, Edge edition is now generally available to help bring cost-effective data-visualization to teams and departments within small and medium-sized businesses. In addition, SAP remains a leader in the Gartner’s 2015 Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence (BI) and Analytic Platforms.

With SAP Lumira, Edge edition users are now able to create, view, modify and share compelling visualizations with teammates and colleagues within their browser.  With a simpler and faster process for installation, teams can begin visualizing data quickly to help tell stories that captivate their audience.

SAP’s continued innovation with SAP Lumira puts data-visualization and infographics in the hands of business users helping to provide more immediate and actionable insights. Other features of SAP Lumira, Edge edition include:

SAP was recognized again this year as a leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for BI. According to Gartner, SAP delivers a broad range of BI and analytic capabilities: for large IT-managed enterprise BI deployments with the SAP BusinessObjects BI platform; and for decentralized data discovery deployments with SAP Lumira. This is complemented with the SAP HANA® in-memory data platform.

The Gartner report also mentions that “SAP is investing heavily in a visionary product direction with SAP Lumira and has good product scores that have improved with the new release, and it has introduced its simplification strategy for the BI platform components. SAP has continued investing in new capabilities with a number of potential differentiators. For instance: SAP Lumira’s advanced self-service data preparation and Infographics features; smart data discovery, by integrating Predictive Analytics (SAP’s advanced analytics platform acquired from KXEN) and Lumira; governed data discovery, by integrating SAP Lumira with SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise, and integration with SAP HANA.”
