Impressive Technologies Driving the Artificial Intelligence

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Extreme automation and global connectivity are the needs of the hour and therefore artificial intelligence (AI) is imperative. AI is an amalgamation of several technologies that enable smart machines to perform human-like tasks by sensing, understanding, acting, and learning, thereby making life much simpler. The technologies constituting AI include machine learning, natural language processing, speech recognition, image processing, intelligent agents, and chatbots. AI has transformed the way businesses run, compete, and thrive today. It improves productivity, greatly helps reduce errors, allows to perform difficult and laborious tasks, and increases customer satisfaction. AI finds application in numerous industries such as healthcare, automotive and transportation, IT & telecom, BFSI, and more.

Businesses are adopting several strategies to gain recognition and achieve growth in the artificial intelligence industry. Microsoft, the American multinational technology company established a new healthcare department based on artificial intelligence at its Cambridge research facility to enter the health market. Google, the tech giant recently plans to open an artificial intelligence (AI) research center in China. Genpact, a global professional services company launched an artificial intelligence platform called Genpact Cora to accelerate digital transformation in organizations. pCloudy, the cloud-based platform for manual and automated testing launched Cetifaya, an artificial intelligence powered app testing BOT to accelerate software testing.

Healthcare Division Set Up by Microsoft

With an aim to transform healthcare using technologies such as machine learning and cloud computing, Microsoft launched a healthcare department based on artificial intelligence system at its Cambridge research facility in September 2017. The computer giant’s research plans include studies into various diseases and monitoring systems that can aid keep patients out of hospitals and alert them about issues in a timely way. “The team’s research could include developing predictive analytic tools, and personal health information systems, as well as using AI to target interventions, said Mr. Iain Buchan, Director of Healthcare Research at Microsoft Research.

Google Opens an AI Research Center

In December 2017, Google announced its plans to open a research center based on artificial intelligence (AI) in China. According to the tech giant, the facility is the first-of-its-kind in Asia and comprises a small team operating out of its existing office in Beijing. According to the company, the new Chinese AI research center will join similar overseas centers operating in New York, Toronto, London, and Zurich.

Genpact Unveils AI Platform

Genpact, released a new artificial intelligence platform in July 2017. Called the Genpact Cora, the platform speeds up digital transformation for businesses. It features a mature application program interface (API) design and open architecture that includes the company’s intellectual property as well as best-in-class providers, combining advanced technologies across three areas such as digital core, data analytics, and artificial intelligence. Genpact Cora’s technologies help large enterprises tackle specific operational business challenges and solve their real-world issues.

“Genpact Cora allows our clients to deploy leading digital technologies using a modular and scalable platform built on an open architecture that drives flexibility, agility, and long-term investment protection,” said Sanjay Srivastava, senior vice president and chief digital officer, Genpact. “And Genpact Cora reduces risks around errant robots and misapplied AI spinning out of control, through an integrated command and control hub that delivers the much-needed governance that business processes require.”

pCloudy Launches Cetifaya

In November 2017, pCloudy launched an artificial intelligence (AI) powered app testing BOT called Cetifaya to speed up the process of software testing. The product automatically tests the mobile applications over numerous real mobile devices and gives its users real-time insights on the app’s behavior and performance. Using AI technologies, the app allows users to run a test for the applications from anywhere in the world via the cloud-based real mobile device farm.

Certifaya also provides users with detailed logs, screen shots and videos of the sessions and suggestions to solve issues. Its analytics-driven testing engine employs deep machine learning algorithms to navigate via the app and monitors the applications for problems. The platform finds out issues and presents reports with issues such as crashes, memory leaks, high CPU, slow response time, battery drain and other important parameters.

Conclusion

The artificial intelligence market is growing swiftly in the recent years. Industry is expected to grow at a CAGR of 46.5% from 2017 to 2025. The market is growing fast due to improved productivity through AI, its diversified application areas, and big data integration drive. Nonetheless, a lack of skilled workforce and threat to human dignity cause hindrances to the market growth.
