1touch.io Launches Advanced Data Discovery and Classification Platform

1touch.io, a leading provider of data and privacy management solutions, launched Inventa, a data privacy platform with unprecedented data lineage techniques for data discovery and classification.  Inventa gives companies complete visibility into their unknown usage of customer data by automating the discovery process and providing them with a comprehensive, accurate, and up-to-date master catalog.

Inventa leverages network analytics, machine learning, and natural language processing in combination with existing artificial intelligence technologies to continuously and accurately catalog a company’s customer data in near real-time. This includes structured and unstructured data, data at rest and in motion, known data and, most importantly, unknown data. Inventa also connects to a multitude of data sources, central filesystems, databases, NoSQL and SaaS solutions and, most recently, Amazon S3 buckets, helping solve one of today’s greatest cloud security challenges.

“The growing array of data privacy regulations around the globe combined with the shortage of experienced IT practitioners makes it imperative for organizations to bring greater levels of automation to the process of data discovery and classification.  But getting a full picture of where all customer data lives is extremely difficult given the distributed nature of modern enterprises,” said Paula Musich, research director at Enterprise Management Associates. “By using network analytics that apply machine learning and natural language processing to automatically discover PII in motion on the enterprise network, 1touch.io’s Inventa can do the heavy lifting for security teams and provide a more complete picture of where it resides and how it is being handled.”

Okera Enhances Automatic Discovery of Sensitive Data Using Machine Learning

Okera announced version 2.0 of its secure data access platform. The new version uses machine learning to enhance the automatic discovery of sensitive data such as social security numbers and credit card numbers so that organizations are able to protect their consumers’ data and comply with data privacy regulations like GDPR and CCPA. With a visual policy builder, Okera’s secure data access platform allows data owners and stewards to easily create policies that can be enforced dynamically now on Microsoft Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 in addition to the previously available support of ADLS Gen1 and Amazon S3. Okera is further enhancing its ecosystems by adding support for AWS Glue Data Catalog.

“We continue to see data lake traffic grow among our customer base but have observed even larger growth in the number of users using data lakes for analytics and machine learning. As more users access data, it is becoming increasingly important for enterprises to know what data exists in their lake and how to create policies and protect access to their sensitive data at scale. With every release, Okera strives to improve customer experience and scalability,” said Nong Li, Okera CEO and co-founder.

Databricks Simplifies the Path to Building Lakehouses for Business Intelligence and Machine Learning

Databricks, a leader in unified data analytics, announced an accelerated path for data teams to unify data management, business intelligence (BI) and machine learning (ML) on one platform. The new Data Ingestion Network of partners and Databricks Ingest bring data teams closer to building the new data management paradigm, lakehouse, which combines the best elements of data lakes and data warehouses, enabling BI and ML on all of a business’s data.

Historically, companies have been forced to split up their data into traditional structured data and big data, and use them separately for BI and ML use cases. This results in siloed data in data lakes and data warehouses, slow processing, and partial results that are too delayed or too incomplete to be effectively utilized. Customers can now load data into Delta Lake, the open source technology for building reliable and fast lakehouses at scale, through the Data Ingestion Network of partners – Fivetran, Qlik, Infoworks, StreamSets, Syncsort – with built-in integrations to Databricks Ingest for automated data loading. Azure Databricks customers already benefit from native integration with Azure Data Factory to ingest data from many sources.

“Databricks powers our machine learning and business intelligence across multiple business functions, from car inventory management, to price prediction and technical operations, by using hundreds of terabytes of data,” said Greg Rokita, executive director, Technology at Edmunds. “Our data vision is fully aligned with the lakehouse approach, and our cloud data journey starts with Delta Lake which powers our machine learning use cases and executive reporting. We’re excited about Databricks Ingest – it will definitely simplify loading data into our Delta Lake.”
