Komprise Automates Unstructured Data Discovery with Smart Data Workflows

Komprise, a leader in analytics-driven unstructured data management and mobility, announced Komprise Smart Data Workflows, a systematic process to discover relevant file and object data across cloud, edge and on-premises data centers and feed data in native format to AI and machine learning (ML) tools and data lakes. Industry analysts predict that at least 80% of the world’s data will be unstructured by 2025. This data is critical for AI and ML-driven applications and insights, yet much of it is locked away in disparate data storage silos. This creates an unstructured data blind spot, resulting in billions of dollars in missed big data opportunities.

“Whether it’s massive volumes of genomics data, surveillance data, IoT, GDPR or user shares across the enterprise, Komprise Smart Data Workflows orchestrate the information lifecycle of this data in the cloud to efficiently find, enrich and move the data you need for analytics projects,” says Kumar Goswami, CEO of Komprise. “We are excited to move to this next phase of our product journey, making it much easier to manage and mobilize massive volumes of unstructured data for cost reduction, compliance and business value.”

Ahana Announces New Presto Query Analyzer to Bring Instant Insights into Presto Clusters

Ahana, the SaaS for Presto, announced a new tool for Presto users called the Presto Query Analyzer. With the Presto Query Analyzer, data platform teams can get instant insights into their Presto clusters including query performance, bandwidth bottlenecks, and much more. The Presto Query Analyzer was built for the Presto community and is free to use. Presto has become the SQL query engine of choice for the open data lakehouse. The open data lakehouse brings the reliability and performance of the data warehouse together with the flexibility and simplicity of the data lake, enabling data warehouse workloads to run alongside machine learning workloads. Presto on the open data lakehouse enables much better price performance as compared to expensive data warehousing solutions. As more companies are moving to an open data lakehouse approach with Presto as its engine, having more insights into query performance, workloads, resource consumption, and much more is critical.

“We built the Presto Query Analyzer to help data platform teams get deeper insights into their Presto clusters, and we are thrilled to be making this tool freely available to the broader Presto community,” said Steven Mih, Cofounder & CEO, Ahana. “As we see the growth and adoption of Presto continue to skyrocket, our mission is to help Presto users get started and be successful with the open source project. The Presto Query Analyzer will help teams get even more out of their Presto usage, and we look forward to doing even more for the community in the upcoming months.”

Apollo GraphQL Introduces the Supergraph, Enabling the Future of Composable Businesses

Apollo GraphQL introduced the supergraph, a network of a company’s data, microservices and digital capabilities, that empowers product and engineering teams to quickly create incredible experiences for their customers. A supergraph acts as a composition layer facilitating collaboration between backend data and services, and frontend apps and devices. Though composability exists in other layers of a modern tech stack, the way companies make new products and app experiences is still rigid and highly dependent on the tools, technologies and processes they have in place. Because of this, front-end teams bear the burden of sourcing and orchestrating data, fine-grained APIs, microservices and different client applications whenever they build new products and app experiences. The supergraph eliminates that complexity by enabling and automating organization-wide composability that delivers better performance and near infinite ways to rapidly orchestrate and recombine business domain models to meet future needs at any scale.

“The supergraph is a new way to think about GraphQL,” said Matt DeBergalis, CTO and co-founder of Apollo GraphQL. “It’s more than a way to connect front-end applications to the data and services they need to run – it’s a composition layer that can span an entire organization. We’ve already seen supergraphs become the standard GraphQL implementation powering some of the world’s most complex digital experiences. It’s a declarative and modular architecture that anyone can use and standardize around.”

It includes AI-powered recommendations that help users improve performance, management and security, as well as making it easier to scale up and manage their instances over time. With Percona Platform, we thought about how to improve the experience for developers and DBAs around running their data workloads, and how to help people achieve their goals faster around managing databases as part of their overall approach,” said Donnie Berkholz, Senior Vice President Product at Percona.

Lightbend Launches Kalix, A Revolutionary Approach to Simplifying Cloud-Based App Development for Global Teams

Lightbend, the company providing cloud-native microservice frameworks for some of the world’s largest brands, announced the launch of Kalix, a unique, Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offering that delivers a new programming model and holistic Developer Experience (DX) designed specifically for the cloud and edge. By doing so, Kalix serves as the next stage in the evolution of serverless computing. Kalix works in concert with underlying cloud infrastructure in maintaining application properties and requirements on behalf of its users, enabling developers to use the skills they already have to build mission-critical, stateful applications in a serverless architecture.

“Complexity in the cloud ecosystem is slowing down engineering and development teams,” said Jonas Bonér, Lightbend’s founder and CEO. “Kubernetes does an excellent job managing, orchestrating, and ensuring availability and scalability of containers, but that’s only half the story. ”There needs to be an equal investment in the application layer to make it easier for the developer to build complete applications that take full advantage of all the excellent underlying cloud infrastructure we have at our disposal. Kalix is the solution to this critical issue.”

Hyper-collaborative data platform Count announces rebrand and hires influential Chief Data Evangelist

Count, a hyper-collaborative data platform, unveils a fresh look and a new approach to empower teams in decision-making processes. Who better to spearhead this revamp than the founder of the BI/Analytics Data Storytelling Framework, Mico Yuk, who joins the company as Chief Data Evangelist. The London-based startup has rebuilt how teams collaborate around data by creating a tool that automates the last mile of analytics. Large amounts of data are often processed and relayed, but ultimately left out of the decision-making process. The last mile of analytics bridges the gap between teams getting data, and reaching data-driven decisions.

Now, Count is unveiling its rebrand to be one of the most collaborative data platforms on the planet, as a result of a perhaps surprising development process. While Count already had a successful product on the market – its SQL notebook – it went back into private beta because it felt that there was more it could be doing to supercharge its data tool to be more collaborative and action-oriented. Mico Yuk’s onboarding comes at a pivotal moment for the company. A former data scientist and analyst, she is also a global keynote speaker and author who has trained thousands on how to use data visualization to power decision making. Mico has seen first-hand how the tech industry is shifting away from big repositories of data, to mechanisms that enable teams to work smarter with that data. Count’s mission resonated with Mico’s expertise in using data-based storytelling and visualization to drive decisions.
