In the contemporary world of technology, Hadoop has become a cornerstone of the big data industry. Although Hadoop facilitates the processing of large-scale data, maintaining a Hadoop cluster is not a piece of cake. The challenges involved in maintaining the Hadoop network functional led to the development and growth of Hadoop-as-a-Service (HaaS) market. HaaS enables copious data to be streamlined for use by any distributing processing system using simple programming modules.

Industry research indicates the global Hadoop-as-a-Service market is expected to garner $16.1 billion by 2020, registering a CAGR of 70.8% from 2014 to 2020. Moreover, market experts believe that HaaS is expected to witness tremendous growth in the next seven years, as market leaders like SAP and Microsoft are inclined toward expanding their horizons at the end user industries.

Commerzbank Creates HaaS-based Platform

A German banking and financial services company, Commerzbank, successfully created a HaaS-based centralized data platform to offer business-critical insights. Commerzbank is a full-service bank and second-largest bank in Germany and thus, a dedicated platform to deal with big data with HaaS at its core will help it to overcome several business challenges. It has been developing the platform, which can be used by any market sector to make better and informed decisions.

Analyzing the big data of a business, creating a trusted data hub, and offering analytical solutions based on it have become the need of the hour for any business, stated Kerem Tomak, Head of big data and advanced analytics at Commerzbank.

Understanding the data requires a huge investment in multiple technologies, and skilled professionals need to hire to analyze the data,” Tomak explained. “Thus, our bank decided to create an entirely new platform dedicated to this challenge, and it established a new team and department called big data and advanced analytics, which is based on HaaS.”

Hadoop To Accelerate AI Innovations

Artificial intelligence has become a strategic priority for all the leading tech companies. Recently, Dell EMC announced the availability of new “Ready Solutions for AI”, which has Hadoop at the core. This new offering will use specialized designs for machine learning along with Hadoop and deep learning with Nvidia. Ready solutions for AI means organizations will no longer need to source and piece the data together to generate information.

There is no doubt that AI is the next big thing in the technology, and our customers are preparing for it,” stated Tom Burns, Senior Vice President of Dell EMC. “Thus, our goal is to lead the industry with the most powerful and efficient AI solutions. With the help of Hadoop, we can allow customers to start looking for better business outcomes and help them position themselves in the rapidly changing technological era.”

These Hadoop-powered solutions are currently available in the United States, and soon, it will be rolled out in Canada, France, Germany, India, China, Japan, and the U.K.

The launch of new platforms based on HaaS solutions demonstrate that HaaS is a promising solution for building and managing the big data cluster, which will compel organizations to consider Hadoop as a potential solution for big data challenges.
