State of Data Report Emphasizes Emerging Shift to a Decentralized Model

New market research commissioned by Starburst and Red Hat uncovers that 55% of organizations claim the pandemic has made data access more critical, a slight increase from the 2021 study. As a result, enterprises plan to prioritize multi-cloud flexibility and ease of use when it comes to selecting data infrastructure solutions. The second annual report, “The State of Data and What’s Next,” conducted by independent research firm Enterprise Management Associates (EMA), found that the shift to quick and flexible deployments is imperative for driving the business functions and insights required to deliver valuable customer experiences in today’s fast-paced, distributed environment.

According to the Accenture Technology Vision 2022, “Meet Me in the Metaverse: The Continuum of Technology and Experience Reshaping Business,” businesses are racing toward a future that is very different from the one they were designed to operate in — as technologies, such as extended reality, blockchain, digital twins and edge computing, are converging to reshape human experiences.

Compelling new findings are revealed in Cloudera’s Limitless: The Positive Power of AI Study, which surveyed 2,213 enterprise business decision makers — including 54% C-Suite representation — and 10,880 knowledge workers in the USA, EMEA, India and APAC. It shows that ESG is identified as a top priority for business leaders and those who fail to act for the good of communities put business growth and talent  at huge risk. The study also examines the shift in attitude towards AI, Machine Learning (ML) and Data Analytics across enterprise decision makers, including C-Suite, and knowledge workers.

Data Scientists Reveal Roadblocks to Digital Transformation

Digital transformation has accelerated significantly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the extra demands on data scientists have revealed significant barriers to effective working and high levels of job dissatisfaction in some areas. For example, around four in 10 are dissatisfied with their company’s use of analytics and model deployment, while more than 20 barriers to effective working emerged, according to a survey of data scientists commissioned by analytics leader SAS.
